Another SVdPNKY, LLC and SCCC collaboration
On a rainy Friday, August 16, 2024, the Samaritan Car Care Clinic was able to do a vehicle title transfer for Amanda Moore. Amanda is a graduate of Life Learning Center, and just began a new job at Dixie Chili in Covington not too far away from LLC. Getting to and from work is now a lot easier with safe and reliable transportation.
This is another great example of collaboration between Life Learning Center, St. Vincent de Paul of NKY, and the Samaritan Car Care Clinic. Several months ago a supporter of the Clinic shared that he wanted to donate his Honda Accord so that it could be repaired and repurposed to help one of the families referred to the Clinic.
SVdPNKY had received a Life Learning Center referral on Amanda’s behalf to consider her for a potential microloan to buy a car from the Samaritan Car Care Clinic, when one became available. Fortunately the Honda Accord was in the pipeline.
The Clinic did the necessary repairs, volunteers cleaned on the car, and Amanda qualified for a loan. You can see Amanda proudly standing in the rain beside her new-to-her Accord in the photo.
Access to affordable and reliable transportation will definitely be a plus for Amanda. In a thank you note to the Clinic, Amanda wrote: “I am so grateful for the team at the Samaritan Car Care Clinic, St. Vincent de Paul, and Life Learning Center. Receiving this Honda not only allows me to get to and from work, but also allows me the opportunity to see my older children who live an hour away, and transport my youngest children. I am overwhelmed with happiness and relief. What you are doing here is incredible work. Thank you.”
